Meet the GDPRLocal Team: Sibel Amet

Data protection is not an easy job, and sometimes it can get overwhelming. Working as a team, like ours at GDPRLocal, eases the pressure as we always offer support to each other. When it comes to support, meet Sibel – she’s a great team player who is always willing to help us, her colleagues, and the clients when problems arise and read how she likes to unwind after a long working week.

Q: What challenges do you typically face in your role, and how do you address them to ensure data protection compliance?

A: I enjoy my role as a Senior Account Manager because it gives me the opportunity to work on more complex issues that our clients face and help them navigate the different obligations under data protection and privacy regulations. I find it exciting to be a part of a growing team of professionals and collectively tackle challenges.

Ensuring that our GDPRLocal clients understand their obligations under various data protection laws is one of the most common challenges, especially since many operate in multiple jurisdictions with different regulations. To address this challenge, I take a proactive approach by investing time to thoroughly understand each client’s operations. By gaining insight into their specific needs and circumstances, I can provide tailored guidance on compliance requirements. My priority is educating clients on compliance and developing strategies that align with their business goals while protecting individual rights.

Navigating data protection compliance demands ongoing diligence, collaboration, and proactive response to emerging challenges. I believe that a combination of continuous education, communication, and implementation of best practices, is a steadfast way stay compliant with data protection regulations and safeguard the privacy rights of individuals.

Q: Given the evolving nature of data protection, how do you stay updated on the latest trends, regulations, and technologies in the field?

A: Staying updated on the latest trends, regulations, and technologies in the field of data protection is very important in my work. To accomplish this, I regularly engage in continuous education by attending online trainings and webinars focused on data protection updates. Additionally, I actively monitor industry publications, regulatory websites, and reputable sources for news and analysis on data protection developments. Cooperating with the team and networking peers enables me to exchange knowledge and stay informed about emerging trends.

By consistently updating my knowledge and skills I can effectively understand new data protection trends and provide informed guidance to our clients.

Q: Is there a weekend ritual or activity that helps you recharge for the upcoming work week?

A: I tend to log off, go offline throughout the weekend and enjoy time with my friends, family, and my dog. My favourite recharge activity in the spring is usually going on long walks with my dog, finding a quite spot in the city park near the lake and reading a book and enjoying the sun.

Q: Can you tell us more about your pets and are there any specific ways your colleagues can tell you’re a proud pet parent based on your workspace? Have they made any appearances on work calls and what is the general reaction to them?

A: I have a rescue dog for over 4 years now – her name is Noodles and she’s the best dog in the world!! A sure tell-tell sign that I have a dog are the white dog hairs on my clothes everywhere I go. She usually snoozes next to me when I’m working, but she is known to make short appearances on GDPRLocal team calls – just to check in if we are all doing our jobs 😊

It gives us great pleasure when we introduce our GDPRLocal team, as we think that everyone should know how great it is. For more fantastic stories like Sibel’s make sure to read our blogs.
