EU AI Act Article 22 Authorised Representative
An EU-based Authorised Representative service that lets providers of high-risk AI systems established outside the Union meet their Article 22 obligations under the EU Artificial Intelligence Act before placing those systems on the EU market.
Who we are
GDPRLocal helps providers of high-risk AI systems established outside the European Union meet their obligations under Article 22 of the EU AI Act by acting as their appointed Authorised Representative. We support organisations bringing AI systems to the EU market for the first time as well as established providers formalising their compliance footprint, drawing on the same regulatory representative experience we apply across our GDPR Article 27 services. Our team understands the practical expectations of EU market surveillance authorities under the AI Act.
What we do
As your Authorised Representative under Article 22 of the AI Act, we verify that the declaration of conformity and technical documentation have been drawn up and that you have carried out an appropriate conformity assessment procedure. We keep your contact details, a copy of your declaration of conformity, your technical documentation and, where applicable, your notified body certificate at the disposal of competent authorities for ten years. We cooperate with the authorities and, where applicable verify your registration obligations. This service does not extend to preparing your AI governance documentation, risk assessments or training, or to providing legal advice on your organisation's compliance position however, as a team of AI and data protection experts we can add these as additional services should this be required.
Wie es funktioniert
Once you have completed onboarding and verification and signed the written mandate, GDPRLocal is formally designated as your Authorised Representative. We then provide the contact details you need to reference in your documentation and declaration of conformity. From that point, subject to the terms in our agreement, we hold the required documentation on file, respond to requests from competent authorities, and keep you informed of developments relevant to the representative function, communicating in English by email, video or online chat. You remain responsible for the conformity assessment itself, for keeping us updated on changes to your technical documentation, and for every substantive compliance decision, while GDPRLocal ensures your EU regulatory contact point is properly staffed and consistently monitored.
